HELLWIGG SHEPHERDS

"Striving to be the best we can be"

A DOG IS A LIFETIME COMMITTMENT

"I AM FOR LIFE"

I am seeing a scary trend these days of people buying dogs, thrilling in their uniqeness and then when the novelty wears off or life changes
they toss them away like some unsightly piece of baggage. A German Shepherd is our friend, our lifelong companion, our home and family
protector and "most importantly" our family member. A family member who accepts our failings, forgives our mistakes, loves us unconditionally
and brings to our lives a trust and acceptance that is hard found in the world today. You take home a bundle of fluff that is like a whirlwind of
wonder and love of life. Within a very short period of time they have bonded to you and your family. A bond that is unshakeable, unwavering, a
love so strong that they will lay down their life for you if need be. They rely on us to raise them right, teach them how to react to the world,
ensure that their needs are met, show them what they need to know to be successful circumventing all the challenges in life, keep them healthy
and allow their minds to develop from a baby (so vulnerable and unknowing) to the wise, kind, intelligent, faithful adult we know they can be.

When a German Shepherd is ripped away from their family unit their heart is shattered, their trust in humans is shaken, they mourn their loss,
they are confused and don't understand what has happened. Where is their family that they loved so deeply. It takes time and commitment for
another person to help the dog regain his trust, faith in the world, confidence and love for that person. But believe me ..... that dog will NEVER
be the same although they will adapt. A German Shepherd needs to bond, needs to love, needs to learn and human beings are the most important
part of their lives.

Although we do breed show and breeding dogs first and foremost we also breed intelligent, thinking, feeling, personable, trainable, loving companions
capable of bonding fully with their new family. Our old guys stay here in our family unit, they are NOT tossed aside when they have no more to give.
We do however, acknowledge the irreplaceablilty of a good stable home and family so when a "younger" dog is either obviously not bound for the show
ring, is not suitable for breeding or we just have too many (we can't keep all of them and provide the care and attention that they require) we will
offer them up to a home. It is our expectation that the person who commits to this dog or a puppy, does so with the full intention of keeping that
dog/puppy for their life. We require that a person thinks long and hard about this life long committment and is fully prepared to meet the promise
that they have given us and their new family member.

We also fully expect that a person perchasing a show/breeding puppy/dog from us commit to that dog fully. If your commitment is based solely on
the structure, showmanship and suitablitly for specific show venues then our recommendation is that you purchase an adult dog that already
has the qualities you require. The reasons for purchasing a show potential, breeding puppy needs to be based FIRSTLY on your desire to use the
puppies bloodlines in a breeding program. Showing is a tool to assess the quality of your dog compared to the standard and what other good
breeders are producing not an ego booster nor is it a tool to prove your worth. Although we do guarantee/warrantee our show potential puppies
to be free of disqualifying faults or hereditary health conditions and will replace with another puppy from a breeding of your choice, it is our
expectation that you have gotten a dog/puppy from us with the full intention of committing to that dog for life. IF that is NOT your intention
then we ask that you be up front with us during your initial inquiry. I will tell you that we would prefer that you purchase elsewhere if your
intention is to keep the dog/puppy ONLY if it looks specific way. Our goal is and has always has been that our dogs deserve a home that
appreciates all that they have to give and will committ to them fully with proper raising and socialization and appreciation for their good qualities.
